Deck overview

This mono-black deck combines low-curve Voltron aggression with edict-based board control, commanded by Whiplash, Vengeful Engineer. The strategy uses deep Equipment redundancy to quickly turn a 1-CMC commander into a table-wide life drain engine. Deploying Whiplash on turn one allows the deck to immediately attach low-cost Equipment over turns two and three, starting early life swings. A dedicated suite of sacrifice creatures, including Plaguecrafter, Fleshbag Marauder, and Accursed Marauder, continuously strips away opposing blockers and commanders to maintain clear attack lanes. Mid-game equipment such as Wrecking Ball Arm, Genji Glove, and Vorpal Sword drastically accelerate the damage clock while scaling the drain triggers. Resilient protection cards like Mithril Coat and Lightning Greaves safeguard Whiplash against removal, while backup threats like Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon and reach spells like Exsanguinate ensure consistent game-closing capability.
