Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Simic counters-and-tokens engine deck helmed by The Astonishing Ant-Man, who converts every card drawn into a +1/+1 counter and then into a swarm of 1/1 Insect tokens. The tokens are not a beatdown plan so much as a resource: they become mana through Cryptolith Rite, Elven Chorus, Jiang Yanggu, Wildcrafter, and Springleaf Parade; draw through Unctus, Grand Metatect and looter effects; sacrifice fuel for Ashnod's Altar and Phyrexian Altar; and untap triggers through Intruder Alarm and Faces of the Past. The deck wins by converting the board into lethal via Throne of the God-Pharaoh drain, Walking Ballista pings, Beastmaster Ascension combat, or the Simic Ascendancy alternate condition. It is a mid-speed engine deck that wants to assemble one of several overlapping untap/mana loops rather than race.
