Deck overview

Doran, Besieged by Time commands an Abzan aggro deck focused on high-toughness creatures, cost reduction, and exponential combat scaling. By reducing the casting costs of creatures whose toughness exceeds their power and granting massive +X/+X buffs on attack, the commander transforms low-cost defensive walls and Treefolk into overwhelming offensive threats. The deck establishes early board presence through efficient ramp dorks and low-mana blockers, assembling its commander on Turn 3. By Turn 4, it deploys undercosted behemoths such as Indomitable Ancients, initiating critical combat onset on Turn 5. Redundant toughness-damage assigners like Doran, the Siege Tower, Bedrock Tortoise, and Felothar ensure lethal damage output even if the commander is removed. While the deck boasts high permanent versatility and efficient spot removal, it relies heavily on creature combat across consecutive turns, remaining susceptible to mass sweepers and stack-based combo wins. Overall, it provides an aggressive, synergistic beatdown plan capable of closing games by Turn 7.
