Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan midrange lifegain and reanimation strategy commanded by Betor, Ancestor's Voice. The game plan revolves around leveraging cheap soul sisters like Soul Warden and Essence Warden alongside self-harm cards like Painful Truths and Dismember to maximize both halves of Betor's end-step trigger. Gaining life steadily pumps secondary threats with +1/+1 counters, while deliberate life loss allows Betor to reanimate key utility creatures directly from the graveyard. The deck builds toward overwhelming aerial combat with scaling threats such as Voice of the Blessed and Elenda's Hierophant, or sudden finishes using Angel of Destiny, Aetherflux Reservoir, and Command the Dreadhorde. It also carries an incidental infinite drain combo between Exquisite Blood and Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose. While the deck possesses strong internal synergy and resilience through recursion, its lack of nonland tutors and instant-speed protection means it plays at an honest, highly synergistic midrange pace.
