Deck overview

This Golgari deck pairs go-wide creature swarm strategies with explosive big-mana spells. Led by Witherbloom, the Balancer, the deck rapidly floods the battlefield with low-cost creature dorks and token generators like Bitterbloom Bearer, Scute Swarm, and Awaken the Woods. These creatures reduce the casting cost of the commander through affinity. Once on the battlefield, the commander grants affinity for creatures to all instant and sorcery spells. This cost reduction allows expensive X-spells such as Exsanguinate, Damnable Pact, and Genesis Wave, as well as heavy board-altering spells like In Garruk's Wake, to be cast for minimal colored mana. The deck converts this mana advantage into victory by searching up Craterhoof Behemoth with an affinity-discounted creature tutor or by draining the table out directly. It plays proactive, compounding Magic that leverages a wide board to generate overwhelming tempo.
