Deck overview

Halana and Alena, Partners is a Gruul +1/+1 counter and extra-combat deck. The primary plan is to curve early mana dorks into the commander, then put a pile of counters on one hasty threat and either take over combat or chain Aggravated Assault. Secondary paths use Savage Ventmaw, Grand Warlord Radha, and Old Gnawbone to generate attack mana, Kalonian Hydra to double counters, and Craterhoof Behemoth, Finale of Devastation, or Chandra's Ignition as finishers. The commander is a force multiplier, not a strict combo piece. Games are won with infinite combat loops or one big trample/ignition swing, with tutors as the main avenue to whichever plan is available.
