Deck overview

This mono-black deck is a dedicated Zombie tribal strategy led by Josu Vess, Lich Knight. It establishes early board presence through low-cost Zombies and cost-reduction artifacts like Jet Medallion and Herald's Horn, converting creature density into steady card flow with engines such as Cryptbreaker, Undead Augur, and Graveborn Muse. The deck leverages powerful mana multipliers, including Cabal Coffers, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, to generate massive black mana. This fuels a kicked Josu Vess on Turn 6, creating an instant army of nine menace creatures, or powers decisive tribal finishers like Coat of Arms and Gray Merchant of Asphodel. Extensive recursion from spells like Zombie Apocalypse and Haunting Voyage ensures high resilience against standard board wipes, while free removal like Deadly Rollick and Snuff Out keeps opposing threats in check.
