Deck overview

This mono-black control deck revolves around a dedicated Liliana tribal theme, combining thirteen distinct planeswalkers with heavy discard, sacrifice edicts, and big mana finishers. The game plan focuses on controlling the battlefield in the early turns by stripping opposing hands and removing threats with sacrifice effects like Plaguecrafter and Liliana of the Veil. Flipping Liliana, Heretical Healer establishes a repeatable discard and reanimation engine that keeps opponents low on resources while protecting your planeswalkers behind Zombie tokens. As Swamps accumulate, mana accelerators such as Cabal Coffers, Magus of the Coffers, and K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth generate massive mana pools. The deck closes games by channeling this mana into devastating finishers like Torment of Hailfire, Exsanguinate, or high-impact reanimation swings with Living Death and Gray Merchant of Asphodel. While vulnerable to countermagic and noncreature permanents, its dense planeswalker redundancy and deep recursion provide relentless mid-to-late game resilience.
