Deck overview

This mono-black Commander deck is built around Vilis, Broker of Blood, transforming life loss into explosive card advantage and game-ending resource disparity. The strategy focuses on early mana acceleration through artifacts, rituals, and cost-reducers like K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth and Jet Medallion, alongside graveyard setup using Buried Alive. By Turn 4 or 5, the deck establishes an overwhelming board state by casting or reanimating high-impact threats such as Vilis, Bolas's Citadel, or Peer into the Abyss. Once Vilis is active, every life payment from activation costs, pain lands like Ancient Tomb, and removal spells like Dismember draws massive card volume. The deck closes the game on Turn 6 using burn and drain engines including Psychosis Crawler, Bloodletter of Aclazotz, Archfiend of Despair, and massive Exsanguinate casts. Robust reanimation packages provide exceptional recovery against removal, while versatile spot removal and board wipes keep opposing boards firmly under control.
