Smaug, Wicked Worm, WIP by RoyDooks

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug, Wicked Worm

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This Rakdos Treasure deck uses Smaug, Wicked Worm as a burst engine. Smaug, Wicked Worm enters and creates tapped Treasures equal to the artifacts your opponents control, then draws a card and drains you for 1 whenever you cast a spell with Treasure mana. The deck turns that mana into three overlapping plans: Dragon combat with haste threats like Goldspan Dragon and Cavern-Hoard Dragon, extra-combat chains with Aggravated Assault and Great Train Heist, and incremental drain from artifact and token triggers. Ingenious Artillerist, Reckless Fireweaver, Weftstalker Ardent, Mayhem Devil, Mirkwood Bats, Nadier's Nightblade, Disciple of the Vault and Marionette Apprentice turn every Treasure creation and sacrifice into damage, while Revel in Riches and Hellkite Tyrant offer alternate wins if Treasures or artifacts reach critical mass. Smaug, Wicked Worm is important for acceleration and card flow, but the win conditions live in the 99, so the deck can operate when the commander is delayed.
