Deck overview

This mono-black deck runs an aristocrats control game plan piloted by Avacyn, Angel of Horror. Because the commander costs eight mana, the deck spends its early turns deploying mana rocks, small sacrificial creatures, and incremental drain engines like Bastion of Remembrance and Zulaport Cutthroat. Midgame play focuses on maintaining parity through an extensive suite of targeted creature removal and asymmetric sweepers such as Decree of Pain and Massacre Girl. Once sufficient mana is available, the deck transitions into dropping heavyweight bombs including Archon of Cruelty, Archfiend of Despair, and Avacyn herself. Avacyn's end-step resurrection turns nontoken sacrifices into recurring card and board advantage. Without deterministic infinite loops or quick tutors, the list grinds down the table through repeated death triggers, life drain, and evasive combat damage.
