Deck overview

Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls headlines an aggressive Rakdos group-slug and punisher strategy designed to convert every standard game action taken by opponents into unavoidable damage and asymmetric card velocity. The deck establishes early passive bleed via cards like Roiling Vortex, Ankh of Mishra, and Razorkin Needlehead before casting Valgavoth on curve. Because opponents inevitably lose life during their own turns, Valgavoth reliably triggers on each opponent's turn, accumulating +1/+1 counters and generating three extra card draws per turn cycle. This massive card flow fuels continuous deployment of compounding damage doublers, lifegain denial, and game-ending punishers such as Manabarbs and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse. Supported by redirect protection and efficient black removal, the deck rapidly drains all three opponents simultaneously while maintaining compact two-card infinite finishes in Bloodchief Ascension plus Mindcrank and Bloodthirsty Conqueror with Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose to close out games around Turn 7.
