Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos Treasure-control/combo deck. The commander, Smaug the Impenetrable, is an indestructible, hasty dragon that turns noncombat damage into Treasures. The deck's primary plan is to accumulate Treasures with draw spells and token generators, then use sacrifice/artifact-ETB pingers (Havoc Jester, Mayhem Devil, Mirkwood Bats, Reckless Fireweaver) to create an infinite sacrifice/damage loop with Smaug. Secondary paths include huge Commander attacks, Smaug the Magnificent or Smaug, Wicked Worm as 'hidden commanders,' Hellkite Tyrant artifact theft/win, and Bolas's Citadel or X-spell burn. The commander is the centerpiece; without it, the deck can still storm through Treasures but loses its fastest kill.
