Deck overview

This mono-black Zombie tribal deck is commanded by Zul Ashur, Lich Lord, focusing on graveyard recursion, aristocrat attrition, and devastating devotion swings. In the early turns, the deck curves out with low-cost Zombies, sacrifice outlets like Carrion Feeder and Viscera Seer, and mana acceleration before deploying Zul Ashur. Once assembled, Zul Ashur repeatedly recasts high-impact Zombies from the graveyard, feeding draw engines like Undead Augur and Graveborn Muse. The primary win condition revolves around building a commanding devotion to black to drain the entire table with Gray Merchant of Asphodel, backed by lethal combat swings from lords like Death Baron, Undead Warchief, and Lord of the Accursed. The deck maintains control over opposing creature boards through asymmetric wipes from Noxious Ghoul and targeted exile via Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet. While vulnerable to mass graveyard hate and sweepers, redundant recursion engines provide steady recovery.
