Deck overview

This mono-black deck is led by Gwenom, Remorseless, turning life totals into direct mana velocity. Built around Gwenom's attack trigger, the deck functions like a Bolas's Citadel in the command zone, casting spells from the top of the library by paying life equal to their mana values. A dense suite of lifelink creatures, equipment such as Lashwrithe and Nightmare Lash, and drain engines like Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, and Shard of the Nightbringer ensures a massive, replenishable life buffer. Topdeck manipulation tools like Sensei's Divining Top, Scroll Rack, and Doom Whisperer filter away excess lands to maintain casting momentum during combat. While the deck lacks fast mana rocks and direct tutors, its consistent land base and explosive mid-game turns allow it to flood the board with devastating threats, closing out games through overwhelming combat damage, life-drain bursts, or an Aetherflux Reservoir finish.
