Deck overview

This Queen Marchesa deck executes a classic Mardu Aikido and Pillowfort control strategy. It leverages efficient early mana rocks to deploy taxing stax pieces such as Rule of Law, Archon of Emeria, and Blind Obedience, grinding opposing spell velocity to a halt. Queen Marchesa introduces the Monarch mechanic, generating consistent card advantage and deathtouch deterrents to defend your life total. Combined with attack taxers like Ghostly Prison and Sphere of Safety, opponents are disincentivized from attacking you and pressured into striking each other. When opponents commit to the board, mass goad effects like Kardur, Doomscourge and Taunt from the Rampart turn their aggression into lethal cross-table attrition. The deck closes games around Turn 8 through catastrophic life drains such as Havoc Festival and Wound Reflection, or sudden lethal damage reflection via Brash Taunter, Deflecting Palm, Inkshield, and Repercussion combined with Blasphemous Act.
