Deck overview

This deck is a high-octane Jeskai Wizard tempo strategy led by Gandalf, Party Guest. It establishes an early board presence on Turns 1 through 3 using low-cost legendary Wizards such as Balmor, Battlemage Captain, Baral, Chief of Compliance, and Vivi Ornitier. On Turn 4, Gandalf enters the battlefield and immediately triggers at the beginning of combat, casting powerful instants and sorceries for free based on the number of legendary Wizards you control. Because Gandalf covers the mana cost of major spells like Raise the Palisade, Fact or Fiction, or Urza's Ruinous Blast, all lands remain untapped during your combat and opponents' turns. This allows the deck to protect its board with a dense counterspell package while triggering Wizard prowess buffs to swiftly close out the game through combat damage by Turn 7.
