Deck overview

This deck is a high-powered Abzan Stax Combo deck commanded by Thalia and The Gitrog Monster. It controls the pace of the game by forcing opponents' creatures and nonbasic lands to enter the battlefield tapped, severely slowing opposing mana bases and combat aggression. Behind this asymmetric tax, the deck leverages an elite suite of low-cost mana dorks, card advantage engines, and comprehensive tutors to assemble compact infinite combos. Its primary win condition relies on Protean Hulk death triggers to assemble infinite sacrifice and drain loops through Karmic Guide, Saffi Eriksdotter, and Blood Artist. Alternatively, the deck can cleanly execute the two-card infinite combo of Heliod, Sun-Crowned and Walking Ballista, or chain value through Birthing Pod and Chthonian Nightmare. Heavy protection from Grand Abolisher and Ranger-Captain of Eos ensures the deck can close out games decisively through instant-speed wins.
