Deck overview

This Dimir Control deck centers on Xanathar, Guild Kingpin, combining interactive control with opponent-facing resource theft. In the early game, the deck establishes its mana base through two-mana artifacts like Arcane Signet and Talisman of Dominance, supplemented by value engines such as Rhystic Study and Black Market Connections. It disrupts opposing game plans using asymmetric hate pieces like Ashiok, Dream Render, Dauthi Voidwalker, and Notion Thief, alongside efficient spot removal and sweepers like Toxic Deluge. Around Turn 5 to 6, the deck deploys Xanathar or high-impact alternatives like Arvinox, the Mind Flail and Archon of Cruelty. Xanathar locks out the most dangerous opponent on your turn and converts their library into an extended hand. The deck converts this compounding card and mana advantage into a win around Turn 9 through mass reanimation with Rise of the Dark Realms, devastating drains via Torment of Hailfire, or an insurmountable army of stolen permanents.
