Smaug Burn baby Burn by Dd1363

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug, Wicked Worm

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos Treasures-and-Dragons value deck helmed by Smaug, Wicked Worm. The plan is to flood the board with Treasure tokens from a dense package of treasure-producers (Goldspan Dragon, Xorn, Professional Face-Breaker, Magda, Brazen Outlaw), then convert that mana and card flow into a swarm of hasty dragons. The commander is a hybrid engine/beater: it banks a pile of Treasures on entry and turns every Treasure-funded spell into a card draw, which is the deck's primary source of velocity. The deck wins through one of three overlapping payoff structures: the upkeep-triggered alternate win conditions (Hellkite Tyrant, Revel in Riches, Knuckles the Echidna), overwhelming combat damage from flying trampling dragons, or a direct burn finish via Smaug the Magnificent's attack trigger. It is a midrange value deck that aims to out-tempo the table with treasure acceleration rather than combo out.
