Deck overview

Ureni of the Unwritten commands a dedicated Temur Dragon tribal deck designed to ramp aggressively into its 7-mana commander and overwhelm opponents through massive aerial combat. By utilizing a dense suite of 2- and 3-mana ramp spells, cost-reducers, and dragon-specific artifacts, the deck consistently deploys Ureni ahead of curve on Turn 5. Upon entry and on every subsequent attack, Ureni digs eight cards deep to cheat massive Dragon threats like Utvara Hellkite, Lathliss, Dragon Queen, and Drakuseth, Maw of Flames directly onto the battlefield. Supporting enchantments such as Temur Ascendancy and Dragon Tempest provide haste and card draw, accelerating combat clocks and turning each entering dragon into direct damage. While vulnerable to well-timed board wipes and fast stack-based combos due to a proactive tap-out curve, the deck's high threat redundancy and asymmetric sweepers allow it to rebuild quickly and close out 4-player pods by Turn 7.
