Deck overview

This Sultai deck harnesses the unique activated ability inheritance of Thranduil, the Elvenking to execute a fast, compact creature combo. Supported by an explosive elfball ramp package, the deck uses graveyard tutors like Buried Alive and Entomb to place Devoted Druid and Greenhilt Trainee into the graveyard. Because Thranduil has a base power of 5, it satisfies Greenhilt Trainee's requirement to grant itself +4/+4 repeatedly, offsetting the -1/-1 untap cost of Devoted Druid to generate infinite power, toughness, and green mana. From there, Thranduil draws the deck using Deepwood Denizen and finishes opponents with Exsanguinate or combat overruns. The list features strong redundancy in Necrotic Ooze and Staff of Domination, protected by free counterspells and efficient green protection spells.
