Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black Group Slug strategy built around Sheoldred, the Apocalypse. The primary game plan accelerates Sheoldred onto the battlefield and deploys symmetrical draw artifacts and creatures like Howling Mine, Font of Mythos, Temple Bell, and Master of the Feast. Every extra card drawn burns opponents for 2 life while replenishing your own life total, turning the traditional group hug mechanic of giving opponents resources into an aggressive, cumulative clock. Supplementary punishers such as Fate Unraveler, Psychosis Crawler, and Scrawling Crawler stack additional damage onto every draw trigger, while Greed and Damnable Pact turn surplus life into decisive card velocity. Without infinite combos or fast-mana acceleration, the deck relies on a high land density (45 lands) and efficient mana rocks to consistently hit land drops and replay Sheoldred through removal. Burst finishers like Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Exsanguinate close out games once opposing life totals have been softened by forced card draw.
