Deck overview

This Gruul aggro deck harnesses the tribal synergy of Wolves and Werewolves under the command of Tovolar, Dire Overlord // Tovolar, the Midnight Scourge. The core strategy revolves around establishing an aggressive low-curve board presence on Turns 1 and 2, deploying Tovolar on Turn 3 to convert combat connections into immediate card draw, and leveraging Tovolar's upkeep trigger to transform the pack into their superior Nightbound forms. Once Night is established, the deck rapidly escalates pressure through overwhelming combat stats, tribal lords, and trample or menace enablers like Immerwolf, Full Moon's Rise, and Tovolar's Huntmaster. While the deck excels at maintaining a full grip of cards through Tovolar's combat damage triggers, it relies primarily on conventional combat damage across multiple attack steps. It protects its board state using targeted protection and anti-sweeper spells, aiming to close the game on Turn 7 before opponents can stabilize.
