Deck overview

Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel commands an Orzhov lifegain-drain combo deck that blends Aristocrats-style attrition with sudden infinite lethality. The game plan centers on utilizing low-cost soul sisters such as Soul Warden and taxing enchantments like Authority of the Consuls to create a steady stream of lifegain triggers. The commander weaponizes this life buffer by paying life to draw extra cards, rapidly cycling through the library to find key win conditions. The primary path to victory is assembling an infinite life-drain loop pairing Exquisite Blood or Bloodthirsty Conqueror with a drain-on-gain effect such as Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Sanguine Bond, or Enduring Tenacity. Once both halves are active, any single life fluctuation eliminates all three opponents in an inescapable chain reaction. Robust sweepers like Toxic Deluge and protective spells like Grand Abolisher safeguard the setup against opposing pressure.
