Deck overview

This Mardu deck utilizes the special Commander Pride format rules to partner Otharri, Suns' Glory with Minthara, Merciless Soul. The game plan revolves around accumulating permanent experience counters to build a scaling, resilient combat engine. Otharri generates experience counters and creates attacking 2/2 Rebel tokens whenever it attacks, while Minthara provides an anthem that gives all creatures +1/+0 for each experience counter you possess. Because experience counters stay with the player rather than on permanents, removal and board wipes fail to reset the deck's primary scaling mechanism. Supported by token amplifiers, proliferate cards, and aristocrat drain effects like Purphoros, God of the Forge and Mirkwood Bats, the deck rapidly scales its board from moderate chip damage into lethal combat swings. It features strong proactive resilience and board wipes, though it relies on natural draws to find non-commander payoffs and lacks stack interaction.
