Deck overview

This deck is a Mono-Black Spellslinger Control and Big Mana strategy led by Toshiro Umezawa. It aims to dominate the battlefield through a dense suite of efficient, instant-speed removal spells. Whenever an opposing creature dies, Toshiro triggers to recast an instant card directly from the graveyard, effectively doubling the value and reach of every removal spell. The deck leverages this creature suppression to stall aggressive opponents while building up continuous card advantage through engines like Black Market Connections, Morbid Opportunist, and Dark Confidant. It accelerates mana using Sol Ring, Cabal Ritual, Bubbling Muck, Crypt Ghast, and the land pairing of Cabal Coffers and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. Once sufficient mana and resources are assembled by Turn 6, the deck pivots toward decisive win conditions, resolving Bolas's Citadel to chain spells into an Aetherflux Reservoir storm finish or casting a devastating Torment of Hailfire or Exsanguinate to drain the entire table.
