Make a Hole of My Life by cgodsey12

Format: Commander

Commander: Alpharael, Stonechosen

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This mono-black life-loss control deck is helmed by Alpharael, Stonechosen, whose attack trigger halves a player's life total when a nonland permanent has left the battlefield or a spell has been warped that turn. The deck leverages a suite of life-loss doublers, halving effects, and recursion to grind opponents down. It deploys stax pieces like Ensnaring Bridge and No Mercy to buy time, then finishes via combat damage from the commander, Unstoppable Slasher, Shredder, Shadow Master, or equipment like Quietus Spike. Alternative wins come from Bolas's Citadel or Peer into the Abyss combined with Bloodletter of Aclazotz. The commander is a powerful enabler but not the sole win condition, as the deck runs many redundant halving cards.
