Deck overview

This deck is an Azorius 'toughness matters' combat and blink engine commanded by Plagon, Lord of the Beach. The strategy leverages low-cost, zero-power creatures with disproportionately high toughness—such as Phyrexian Walker, Aegis Turtle, Caelorna, Coral Tyrant, and Charix, the Raging Isle—to convert Plagon's enter-the-battlefield trigger into massive bursts of card draw starting on Turn 3. Dense instant-speed blink spells repeatedly re-trigger Plagon and other ETB effects, ensuring a continuously full hand of answers, protection, and threats. Combat lethality is enabled through toughness-to-damage assigners like Plagon, High Alert, Rasaad yn Bashir, and Baldin, Century Herdmaster, which turn cheap defensive walls into lethal attackers. The deck synergizes exceptionally well with asymmetric board wipes such as Slaughter the Strong and Dusk // Dawn, clearing opposing battlefields while leaving its zero-power army completely untouched before closing out games via unblockable combat damage or an incidental infinite flicker loop.
