Deck overview

This Golgari Midrange deck uses Grist, Voracious Larva as a fast engine piece that transforms into Grist, the Plague Swarm as early as Turn 3. The strategy focuses on filling the graveyard with self-mill spells like Grisly Salvage and Midnight Tilling, using recursive creatures like Bloodsoaked Champion and Reassembling Skeleton to trigger Grist's transformation. Grist generates continuous Insect tokens to fuel sacrifice card draw such as Deadly Dispute and Village Rites. The deck controls the board with versatile removal like Assassin's Trophy and Beast Within while developing its mana base. It closes games by building toward Grist's -6 ultimate, which creates a lethal swarm of token copies from the graveyard, or by using powerful reanimation spells like Squirming Emergence and Rise of the Dark Realms to deploy game-ending threats like Massacre Wurm and Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord.
