Deck overview

This deck is an Esper Zombie tribal strategy commanded by Varina, Lich Queen. It blends aggressive early creature deployment with graveyard synergy, combat-based card selection, and aristocrat drain effects. In the opening turns, low-cost Zombies establish early board presence before Varina enters on Turn 4. Once operational, attacking with Zombies triggers Varina to filter through the library, fill the graveyard with recursion targets like Wonder and Gravecrawler, and generate Zombie tokens. The deck transitions into a lethal threat by Turn 6 using tribal lords like Death Baron, asymmetric creature suppression from Archfiend of Ifnir, or mass reanimation via Zombie Apocalypse. It finishes games around Turn 8 through wide evasive combat damage or by looping Gravecrawler through Phyrexian Altar alongside drain engines like Wayward Servant and Corpse Knight. Robust interaction and premium protection such as Teferi's Protection ensure resilience against opposing disruption.
