Deck overview

This deck is a classic Mardu political control build led by Queen Marchesa. The strategy centers on introducing the Monarch mechanic early, establishing a fortified defensive perimeter with cards like Ghostly Prison and Windborn Muse, and manipulating opposing combat through goad mechanics such as Kardur, Doomscourge and Agitator Ant. Rather than racing to execute a fast combo, the deck encourages opponents to deplete each other's life totals and resources while quietly amassing card advantage and mana. When opponents attempt large aggressive swings, the deck leverages reactive aikido staples including Inkshield, Deflecting Palm, and Backlash to turn their own power against them. The endgame is secured through high-impact asymmetric board breakers like Ruinous Ultimatum and Farewell, followed by token swarms from Assemble the Legion, Court of Grace, or Skyline Despot to close out the table.
