Deck overview

This Orzhov deck blends lifegain attrition, control elements, and compact infinite drain combos. Led by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel, the deck leverages incidental lifegain from soul sisters and extort triggers to draw cards and suppress aggressive boards. Its primary win condition pairs Exquisite Blood with Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Sanguine Bond, or Marauding Blight-Priest to execute a deterministic table-wide life drain loop as early as Turn 5. Dense proactive taxes such as Blind Obedience, Authority of the Consuls, Kambal, Consul of Allocation, and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse punish opponents for developing their boards, casting spells, or drawing cards. A robust suite of efficient single-target exile spells, sweepers, and reanimation options provides defensive stability and strong recovery. When the primary combo is contested, the deck seamlessly transitions into alternate win routes via Approach of the Second Sun or overwhelming creature boards generated by Archangel of Thune and Crested Sunmare.
