Deck overview

This deck executes a Golgari Infect and Reanimator strategy helmed by Meren of Clan Nel Toth. The core game plan uses early mana dorks and sacrifice enablers to ramp out Meren by Turn 3, quickly stacking experience counters to establish a continuous end-step reanimation engine on Turn 4. The deck transitions into a lethal threat on Turn 5 by distributing poison counters to all opponents using Ichor Rats or aggressive infect beaters like Bloated Contaminator and Putrefax. Rather than needing to deal 120 regular combat damage, the deck leverages proliferate engines like Evolution Sage and Core Prowler alongside token swarms from Phyrexian Swarmlord to quickly push all opponents to 10 poison counters by Turn 7. Meanwhile, Grave Pact paired with sacrifice outlets provides asymmetric creature attrition that keeps opposing boards clear.
