Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black aristocrats and devotion reanimator engine commanded by Ayara, First of Locthwain. The strategy establishes early mana acceleration and recurring sacrifice fodder such as Ophiomancer and Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia to steadily drain opponents while refueling the hand through Ayara's activated ability. In the midgame, graveyard tutors like Buried Alive and Vile Entomber bin high-impact payoffs including Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Abhorrent Overlord. Spells like Victimize and Lively Dirge return these creatures together, creating massive life swings and wide flying armies. Alternatively, resolving Plague of Vermin with Ayara in play drains the entire table in a single burst. Efficient removal spells, sweeper protection, and reanimation redundancy ensure consistent operation through opposing disruption.
