Deck overview

This mono-black control deck uses an attrition-heavy graveyard strategy led by Sheoldred, Whispering One. In the early game, cheap draw spells, sacrifice outlets, and discard tools sculpt your hand and fill your graveyard with high-impact creatures. Mid-game turns focus on board control through targeted removal and edicts. Once you reach 6 to 7 mana, the deck deploys Sheoldred, Whispering One or enchantments like Virtue of Persistence // Locthwain Scorn to reanimate threats each upkeep while stripping opposing creatures away. Recurring payoffs like Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Sepulchral Primordial rapidly drain the table and build overwhelming board states. While the deck possesses strong creature removal and resilience, it suffers from high mana costs, vulnerability to graveyard exile, and a total inability to remove opposing artifacts and enchantments.
