Deck overview

This mono-black deck harnesses Baron Helmut Zemo to cheat massive mana costs by weaponizing black mana symbols in the graveyard. The strategy focuses on deploying Zemo on Turn 3 and rapidly loading the graveyard with high-pip black cards through connive looting, cycling, self-mill, and tutors like Buried Alive. On Turn 4, Zemo attacks and activates its boast ability, exiling fifteen black mana symbols to cast up to three devastating spells for free. Primary boast payoffs include Doomsday Excruciator to strip opposing libraries down to six cards, Breach the Multiverse to mill them out completely, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel to drain the table based on massive black devotion. Standalone powerhouses like Bolas's Citadel and Zodiark, Umbral God ensure the deck maintains overwhelming pressure even if the commander is disrupted. Supported by efficient removal and resilient graveyard recursion, the deck closes games swiftly by Turn 5.
