Deck overview

This deck is a high-speed competitive Izzet Spellslinger and Storm combo deck piloted by Ral, Monsoon Mage. The primary game plan accelerates into a fast Underworld Breach line as early as Turn 2 or 3. By pairing Underworld Breach with Brain Freeze and mana sources like Lotus Petal or cheap rituals, the deck self-mills its entire library and generates high storm counts. It converts this engine into an immediate victory using Thassa's Oracle or table-wide damage from Grapeshot. A dense suite of free and efficient counterspells—including Fierce Guardianship, Deflecting Swat, and Force of Will—defends the combo turn against opposing interaction. When the primary line is contested, redundant mana engines such as Birgi, God of Storytelling, Storm-Kiln Artist, and Past in Flames provide resilient backup routes to victory.
