Deck overview

This deck is an Izzet spellslinger strategy built around Vivi Ornitier. Vivi grows with +1/+1 counters whenever you cast noncreature spells, dealing 1 damage to all opponents with each cast and tapping into explosive mana acceleration with his once-per-turn {0} mana ability. The deck leverages cheap cantrips, cost-reducers like Stormcatch Mentor and Geist of Saint Thalia, and redundant pingers such as Firebrand Archer and Caldera Pyremaw to steadily drain opposing life totals. In the mid-game, Vivi's accumulated power generates massive bursts of mana that can be funneled into game-ending finishers like Crackle with Power or an infinite damage loop with Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind and Curiosity. While the deck boasts strong reactive countermagic and spot removal, it relies heavily on Vivi remaining on the battlefield to provide mana acceleration.
