Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black attrition engine commanded by Kaervek, the Punisher. The primary strategy focuses on committing frequent crimes by targeting opponents, their permanents, and their graveyards with spot removal, cheap discard spells, and utility artifacts like Scrabbling Claws. Each crime triggers Kaervek to exile and recast black spells directly from the graveyard, effectively doubling the efficiency of every disruption piece. By mid-game, the deck deploys heavy discard engines such as Mindslicer, Sadistic Hypnotist, and Arterial Flow to strip opponents of their hands and force topdeck mode. Once resources are suppressed, the deck steadily drains the table using punishing permanents including Bandit's Talent, Davriel, Rogue Shadowmage, Fell Specter, and Entropic Battlecruiser, or executes a late-game life swing with Gray Merchant of Asphodel. While vulnerable to graveyard hate and lacking stack counterplay, it excels at grinding down creature-based strategies.
