Smaug by deadsandstorm

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos treasures-matter deck built to weaponize its commander, Smaug the Impenetrable, as both an indestructible damage sink and a token engine. The core strategy uses Smaug's indestructible haste body to repeatedly trigger Treasure creation whenever he is dealt noncombat damage-via cards like Pyrohemia, Starstorm, or Pariah's Shield. Those Treasures multiply with Xorn and Academy Manufactor, then fuel enormous drain payoffs (Disciple of the Vault, Marionette Master, Mirkwood Bats, Mayhem Devil) or a massive Exsanguinate. The deck can also win via Twinflame Tyrant-doubled damage, Pain for All on Smaug, or the alt-condition Knuckles the Echidna. It is a synergistic build that leans heavily on the commander to convert damage into mana and lethal reach.
