Thorin, Mountain-king ($100 budget) by Makana

Format: Commander

Commander: Thorin, Mountain-king

Deck overview

This is a mono-red Equipment Voltron deck helmed by Thorin, Mountain-king. The plan is to suit up Thorin - or any of several alternate carriers - with a dense equipment suite, using free-attach effects and damage multipliers to close out via commander damage. Thorin's ETB attaches equipment for free and deals damage equal to the equipped creature's power, and Conjurer's Closet re-triggers it every turn. The deck leans on Fiery Emancipation to triple damage, Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar to spread commander damage across the table, Dain Ironfoot and Blacksmith's Talent for double strike, and Desert Were-Worm for extra combats. Secondary carriers like Champion of the Flame, Valduk, Keeper of the Flame, and Gilgamesh, Master-at-Arms keep the plan alive if Thorin is answered. The deck is fast and explosive but almost entirely artifact-dependent and nearly devoid of interaction.
