Deck overview

This Mogis, God of Slaughter deck is a dedicated Rakdos group slug and attrition strategy designed to grind opposing life totals and resources to zero through inevitable, symmetric punishment. The primary game plan revolves around curving out 2-mana ramp into Mogis or early disruption pieces like Oppression and Court of Ambition by Turn 4, followed by compounding damage enchantments such as Manabarbs, Spellshock, and Painful Quandary on Turn 5. These layered engines tax every standard game action—tapping lands, casting spells, and drawing cards—inflicting 6 to 12 damage per opponent cycle. Built-in resilience from Mogis’s indestructible noncreature typing and a high density of noncreature permanents shields the board from creature sweepers. While lacking heavy instant-speed interaction and free countermagic, the deck accelerates table elimination with finishers like Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Master of Cruelties, and the Bloodchief Ascension plus Mindcrank infinite mill combo, closing out games reliably around Turn 7.
