Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos Group Slug deck built around Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. It plays low-cost punisher cards like Roiling Vortex, Razorkin Needlehead, and Ankh of Mishra that deal damage whenever opponents take standard game actions such as playing lands, drawing cards, or casting spells. When an opponent loses life on their turn, Valgavoth triggers to draw a card and gain a +1/+1 counter, turning symmetric burn into asymmetric card advantage and a rapidly growing flying commander. Damage doublers like Solphim, Mayhem Dominus, Torbran, Thane of Red Fell, and Fiery Emancipation accelerate the clock, while Manabarbs and Spellshock punish every action. The deck finishes games through large commander swings, Chandra's Ignition, a lethal Torment of Hailfire, or the infinite mill-drain loop of Bloodchief Ascension and Mindcrank.
