Deck overview

This Mono-Black Aristocrats and Stax deck is helmed by Avacyn, Angel of Horror, an 8-mana engine that returns every nontoken creature you control that dies to the battlefield at the beginning of the next end step. The deck accelerates mana using powerful mono-black staples like Crypt Ghast, Cabal Coffers, Lake of the Dead, and K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth to deploy Avacyn by Turn 5. Once operational, Avacyn loops redundant fleshbag creatures like Plaguecrafter, Accursed Marauder, and Demon's Disciple across every player's end step, systematically annihilating opposing creature boards while stripping cards through Mindslicer and Dusk Mangler. Life drain payoffs including Blood Artist, Kokusho, the Evening Star, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel rapidly deplete opposing life totals, closing the game within two turn rotations. Even if Avacyn is removed, redundant control pieces like Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos, and Tergrid, God of Fright sustain an oppressive attrition lock.
