Deck overview

This Abzan deck is commanded by Nethroi, Apex of Death and operates as a hybrid modular reanimator and aristocrats strategy. The game plan takes advantage of the rules interaction between Nethroi's mutate trigger and 0-power modular artifact creatures. Because cards such as Arcbound Crusher, Arcbound Ravager, and Walking Ballista have zero printed power in the graveyard, Nethroi's 10-power limit allows you to reanimate all of them at once alongside key drain pieces like Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat. Early turns focus on accelerating mana and filling the graveyard through self-mill engines like Hermit Druid and Ripples of Undeath. Once seven mana is available, mutating Nethroi onto a non-Human creature creates an overwhelming board presence. The deck closes games through large trampling modular attacks and sacrifice drain, supported by The Ozolith and Doubling Season.
