Deck overview

Led by Shelob, Child of Ungoliant, this Golgari kindred deck combines defensive board control, deathtouch combat dominance, and Food artifact synergies. Early turns focus on establishing land acceleration via spells like Nature's Lore and Three Visits alongside utility arachnids. Deploying Shelob on turn 5 transforms every Spider into a lethal deathtouch blocker protected by Ward {2}. The deck seizes control on turn 6 by leveraging fight and bite spells—such as Spinning Wheel Kick and Cosmic Hunger—to instantly eliminate opposing threats and steal them as Food artifact tokens. These tokens fuel asymmetric mana engines like Night of the Sweets' Revenge and trigger life drain through Mirkwood Bats. The deck steadily marches toward a decisive turn 8 victory via overwhelming combat damage from Spider-Man, Miles Morales or massive overrun pumps. Robust defensive options including Swarmyard, Mithril Coat, and Heroic Intervention ensure Shelob remains an intractable predator throughout the midgame.
