Deck overview

This Simic Midrange Stompy deck is helmed by Volo, Guide to Monsters, turning diverse creature types into massive value engines. The list features 30 distinct creature types to guarantee Volo's trigger, copying creature spells upon cast. Supported by 14 low-cost ramp pieces, the deck routinely accelerates Volo into play on Turn 3 and begins doubling threats on Turn 4. Critical onset occurs on Turn 5 with explosive drops like Gruff Triplets, Avenger of Zendikar, or Hornet Queen, rapidly accumulating 20 to 40 power on the battlefield. Finishers like End-Raze Forerunners and Return of the Wildspeaker convert wide boards into lethal combat steps, closing the game around Turn 7. While lacking fast tutors and infinite combos, the deck compensates with immense threat redundancy and standalone bomb creatures that win even without the commander.
