Deck overview

This Sultai deck is helmed by Zaxara, the Exemplary and focuses on maximizing value from spells with {X} in their mana costs. The primary strategy ramps in the opening turns, lands Zaxara on Turn 4, and uses its two-mana tap ability to fuel scalable spells starting on Turn 5. Each X-spell triggers Zaxara to generate an additional large Hydra token, rapidly building a wide and tall battlefield. Trample and evasion enablers like Garruk's Uprising, Skatewing Spy, and Open into Wonder turn these massive bodies into game-ending combat threats by Turn 6-8. Substantial card draw engines ensure a steady flow of fresh threats, while modular interaction spells like Curse of the Swine, Pest Infestation, and Repulsive Mutation answer opposing boards while advancing your own board state.
