Deck overview

This deck is a classic Mardu Vampire tribal aggro strategy piloted by Edgar Markov. The primary game plan utilizes Edgar's eminence ability to build a swarm of 1/1 Vampire tokens for every Vampire spell cast, even while Edgar remains in the command zone. Supported by cheap utility creatures like Vampire of the Dire Moon and Cordial Vampire, the deck scales into midgame combat threats using anthem effects like Stromkirk Captain and Shared Animosity, as well as aristocrat life-drain triggers from Blood Artist and Sanctum Seeker. Interaction is clean and versatile, leaning on efficient exile removal like Swords to Plowshares and Anguished Unmaking. While resilient to spot removal thanks to free token creation, the deck remains vulnerable to repeated board wipes and lacks tutors for its key draw and protection engines.
